Fancy 1 hour and 4 minutes of Art history? This is the online talk I delivered yesterday (Tuesday 12 March) now up, and free to watch on Vimeo for the next 10 days.
The talk was made, in large part, to help promote our upcoming Art Lovers trip to Rouen (18-22 May) which is a remarkable place for art and culture.
In order to make the case for Rouen (so to speak) this little video explores various aspects of art history there. For example, a miniature “virtual” tour of the wonderful Gothic cathedral, Notre Dame de Rouen.
Later on, and in a different medieval church, there is a little “workshop” on how to read biblical stories in stained glass windows from the early 1500s.
We also spend some time exploring the collections of paintings, all around Rouen’s wonderful Musée de Beaux Art. (Expect artworks by Delacroix, by J-L. David, Claude Monet and more)
There is more, quite a bit more in fact! But I will let people discover it for themselves.
We also put a brief introduction in, introducing me (the main guide on out tours and trip) and explaining how we approach teaching art history in general.
Anyhow, here it all is, its available to view until the 22nd March, and feel free to share.
Anybody who feels after watching this, that they’d like to join our trip in May will find all the details, the prices, and the sign-up link, on my usual website: dublindecoded.com
