dash to catch our Grangegorman walk tomorrow Wed 07 June.

For those who missed it a few weeks back, one last reminder of a second chance to catch our amazing Grangegorman tour, tomorrow Wed 07 June.  It starts 2.15 pm, which won’t suit everyone of course.  But if you can get free, make every effort to get to buy a ticket (link below) and somehow make it.  It’s a unique tour, as anyone who has done it recently will testify, opening up a part of the city most of us barely know, indeed an area of terra incognito that’s effectively been hidden for over a 150 years, cit off by the Broadstone block” effect, by rail and canal infrastructure and of course, by the prisons, asylums and workhouses of the area.     But this is an area rich in history and meaning.  And one about to change forever.

Regular readers, please note, this is not a Dublin Decoded event but one of 3 walks I’m honoured to lead for the wonderful Irish Georgian Society over the summer months.    As it’s not a Dublin Decoded event you can’t buy a ticket here or from me. (Nor are are Dublin Decoded walks/Treasure hunt vouchers valid for these events, alas) Please purchase a ticket via the link below and support the fantastic work the IGS do, protecting our priceless but vulnerable architectural heritage since 1958.  Tickets €20 IGS members/ €25 non –members.   Hope you can join us for this extraordinary tour tomorrow, despite the short notice!   Tickets and more details via the IGS website events page – in this link here

I really hope one or two of you can make it, as I’m quite evangelistic about us all getting a better understanding of this extraordinary, little understood area of Dublin.  Make it if you can.
